This is a corner of my den. There's a photograph of a painting from Faces of the Fallen of Aaron, my appreciation for the memory of Aaron from the Commander in Chief, below that is a beautiful bevelled glass portrait of Aaron, DOB, DOD. It says, Home of the Free Because of the Brave. Aunt Linda Gay gave this to me at Aaron's Silver Star Presentation. Next to it is a crystal cross that Kathy Jewell gave me for Christmas last year.
This below is the bookcase Greg made me several years ago. You can see the photos some of you have seen before. The one hard to see is Aaron and Uncle Bennie when my Uncle presented Aaron with his Marine NCO sword.
When Uncle Bennie gave Aaron the sword on Dec. 23, 2003, Aaron asked me later if I'd make him a room where he could display his Marine and USA stuff. That's how the refinishing of Aaron's room came about.
Aaron was KIA April 26, 2004.
I presented the sword back to my Uncle that Christmas. Greg built a beautiful cabinet for it.
To the left of the bookcase are the framed citations and medals of Aaron's Purple Heart and Silver Star. On the very top of the bookcase are my USA and NM flag in their walnut cases and a framed photograph of LCpl Zach Fincannon and Aaron. Rick Loomis from LA Times who was embedded with 2/1 took this photograph of Aaron reading mail one day before he was killed. He called me and asked me if I'd like it. I don't have to tell you what I said. He emailed it to me from Iraq.
Roy worked on the photo for me and framed it, then gave it to me b/c Roy loves me.
You see if I took pictures of every little nook and cranny of this Christmas Parade of My Home, we'd never get through til next Christmas. I have Aaron's stuff everywhere. The other side of my bookcase is filled with photos.
For some people, this is hard, I've heard. I can't imagine being without it.
The little ceramic Christmas pony was a gift from Aaron one Christmas in Panama.
