Virgie Bell's View: Free? Yeah, right.

Barak Obama has come out with one of the great myths of all time entitled Free National Health Care. Now, more than ever, we should be aware that if anything looks too good to be true, it usually is. If my understanding is correct, we have serious issues. Social Security is nearly broke, thus Medicare and Medicaid hold much the same status. Who do we expect to pay for the extra years that go into becoming doctors and all others connected to the health care profession? One only needs to look at Canada to see the quality of care provided by this type system is sadly lacking. But then, who cares if it really works. Mr. Obama has to have something to crow about and it looks as though he has found it. Americans have the finest health care system in the entire world. Indeed, citizens of other countries flock to our shores for health care.

We’ve been over this one so many times and in so many ways, but what we’ve hugely ignored is the fact that there is already a health care system in place. Every hospital in the United States is required by law to post in a prominent place of view that if you do not have any money you are still entitled to receive health care. Of course, you can’t own property or valuables that can be converted into financial gain, so you are pretty much between a rock and a hard place, unless you are an illegal.

The truly lighter than air Pelosi wants to give food stamps to those here illegally, along with free education, college tuition and free health care. Now it does not come as a great surprise that this free right to every benefit has to be paid by someone. Every worker pays the first five months of their earnings, every year, to this institution called our government of the people, for the people, and by the people.

Please do not expect anymore from our work force. Hillary said we are going to take it from you and give it for the greater good. Whatever that means, it does not mean those who get up and go to the ordinary jobs that keep this country afloat. The have-nots will always be after those who do have the little they possess. While I am on the subject of benefits for those who do not deserve them, will someone tell me why the 68 members of government who have been convicted of fraud, racketeering and other crimes against we the people, are entitled to vast sums of retirement? These dollar figures make the corporate elite seem puny.

Let us go ahead and stand behind our health care professionals, our doctors, nurses, therapists, and the researchers who look for cures to dreaded disease. As well, Doctors and Nurses without Borders and the many who help to fight the devastation of HIV in other countries, as well as flying supplies to catastrophe that hits all over the world will not benefit from free health care. Let us also SUPPORT THE TROOPS!
