a. (Aug. 31, 1931 - June 10, 1951) was a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps who served with Company E, 2nd Battalion 1st Marines, 1st Division during the Korean War. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions and sacrifice of life on June 10, 1951, near Hangnyong, Korea, while advancing his platoon against enemy fire. He hurled himself into an enemy bunker with a live grenade, killing the enemy gun crew and himself in the explosion.

Choose between Peter Hurd or Michael Reagan (both artists) and write an essay of approx. 300 words (use your word count on WORD or write a full page (single-spaced) of text.

Essay should include of course, their feeling for their art and our military.

As before, don’t worry about spellings or mechanics. It’s the thought and detail I’m looking for. They are artists. Make me feel their art.


Cumulative points earned on EACH test entered will earn 10 cents for each point. This money will be donated to The Afghan Children’s Fund in the name of each contestant.

Essay winner gets published on Gunz Up and writes up and administers Test Four, which I will be required to take.

### EXTRA CREDIT

  1. Find the percentage for Karen's final grade on Test Two. I've asked for this more than once and quite handedly have I been ignored. The children need shoes on their feet. For 30 pts. find the post and figure out her score.
  2. The Teach has not forgotten the "Pick a Date" post either. For 30 points, find the post, take the only 2 dates picked, add them together, divide by 2, and write a short essay of 10 sentences that concerns the NEW date.
  3. Turn a PERFECT TEST IN 2 DAYS EARLY for 30 pts.
