The number of people killed during World War II is staggering. A total of 62,537,400 people died during the conflict that left so much of the world in ruins. The civilain total is 32,326,700 and the military total is 24,456,700.
The Soviet Union, allied to the United States, England and France, suffered a total of 23,200,000 deaths. Of that number 11,500,000 are civilians. The United States lost 407,000 members of the military and 11,200 civilians.
As we near the anniversay of the attack on Pearl Harbor, let us remember the men and women of previous generations who sacrificed so that we would know freedom.

Those are staggering numbers Steve. And MANY that served during that time period are dying daily in this country. Soon they will all be gone. Yeah we need to remember them. It would not only be unfortunate but VERY unAmerican.
They really are a GREAT generation. We owe them a lot. The least we can do is honor them.
