Homecoming
For those that served during "Operation Desert Storm" 1990-1991.
The Marine would exit friendly lines
Taped gear had subdued all that shined
With orders given they'd attack at dawn
Six klicks of movement until the enemy
They would quickly out maneuver the sun
In a violent initiation of their cause
Triggers would pull and rounds would fly
And only after the smoke had cleared
Would fellow Marines realize he'd died
Twenty minutes of intense sheer madness
Protecting freedom with unselfish pride
Now a silouette awaits on the tarmac
Dressed in black and stands alone
Proud memories of her youngest son
That she now woefully welcomes home
She will tremble from the rifle reports
Twenty one shots but bravely stands tall
Proud memories of her unselfish son
For you and me would sacrifice all
